AmericanTowns.com Event Listings Featured On Superpages.com
New Agreement Provides Superpages.com Users Access to Local Events For More Than 15,000 Communities Nationwide
FAIRFIELD, CT, February 28, 2008 –
AmericanTowns.com, the national network of hyper-local, community-based websites, today announced that its listings of local events are being featured on town and city entries on
Idearc Media Corp.’s
Superpages.com.
AmericanTowns’ complete listings of
local events now appear on Superpages.com with the local search expert’s content. Last year AmericanTowns featured more than 10 million events and now covers more than 15,000 communities nationwide.
In 2007, Superpages.com saw an increase of more than 2 billion network searches from 2006 to more than 4.8 billion network searches. In addition, Superpages.com had 17 million small-to-medium-sized business listings in the United States, more than 10 million of which featured enhanced content.
“AmericanTowns’ relationship with Superpages.com benefits anyone looking for
local information,” said Ted Buerger, chairman of AmericanTowns. “Our listings of local events and organizations combined with Superpages’ information on local businesses provide a comprehensive guide to almost every town in America.”
AmericanTowns contains information on 120,000 community organizations, more than 100,000 postings by those organizations and their members, and an extensive guide to local community resources like real estate, local jobs and train schedules.
This content relationship is the first joint initiative between AmericanTowns and Idearc Media Corp., which also publishes the Verizon® Yellow Pages.
“AmericanTowns’ local event content adds more personalized and localized information to Superpages.com,” said Robyn Rose, vice president of marketing for Superpages.com, “which enhances the user experience and further differentiates Superpages.com.”
AmericanTowns provides towns across America with their own “community webspace,” where local residents can find and share the information most important to their daily lives. AmericanTowns has also announced content relationships with other leading providers of local information, including local news provider Topix, Traffic.com, the Alliance Reservations Network, CareerBuilder.com and Trulia.com. It is also integrating other content from on-line and off-line sources.
Founded in 2000, AmericanTowns completed a Class A funding round from angel investors earlier in 2007, followed by a strategic investment from Idearc Media Corp. These funds have been used to build the company from a regional leader in the New York City suburbs to a nationwide community-based service. Traffic growth has been 50% per quarter in 2007. Content offerings have expanded even more rapidly.
