Because there are no roads connecting any of the villages of western Alaska, all travel is done either by small airplane or on the river. In the summer, primary travel is by boat, but in the winter...you wait for the river to freeze up and that becomes the way to get around. Music is by Michael Faubian (we work with him, but is music is on CDBaby.com). Hope you enjoy. If you want to buy some of Michael's music, you can go to www.cdbaby.com to find it. We hope you enjoy! Internet Explorer users: click pause before closing Teaching in Akiak, Alaskarunning time:07:27 added by:arica72 source: YouTubeThese photos show what the village was like, the people who taught and supported the school, and many landscape shots. Many of the pictures were contributed by Adam Farabee and Claire Andryshak. The music is "World On Fire," by Sarah McLachlan and "You Made It," by DJ Shadow (featuring Chris James). These songs set the tone for the experience I had my first year of teaching in the Alaskan Bush. |
