The Artist as Storyteller
This year's Children's Gallery exhibit has plenty of surprises in
store. See what happens to Little Red Riding Hood when she ventures
north to the Arctic, read a storybook from the comfort of a beautiful
artist's chair, or experience exciting tales of adventure from several
giant pairs of shoes. This year's gallery features the work of five
Alaska artists who tell stories through their paintings, sculptures and
installations.
The exhibit FromBeginning2End is not just about looking. It is a place
to create where kids and adults alike may take a seat on a log and make
rubbings of the ceramic tiles of Anchorage artist Ed Mighell. A place
for sketching a chickadee, owl or a giant baby raven created by
Rachelle Dowdy of Fairbanks.
