Mission:

The Anchorage School District’s mission is to educate all students for success in life through increased Academic Achievement, Supportive, Effective Learning Environments, Workforce Diversity and ensuring Public Accountability.

Goals:

- Students will demonstrate increased academic achievement on state measures of academic performance.
- A higher percentage of students will master basic skills and strategies to read independently by the end of the third grade.
- The percentage of students in accelerated math classes will increase.
- There will be at least a five-percent decrease in the dropout rate of middle and high school students over a period of two years.
- There will be at least a five-percent increase in the district’s graduation rate.
- There will be at least a five-percent increase in the percent of high school students who successfully complete higher-level courses.
- A higher percentage of students, staff and parents will be satisfied with the level of customer services and feel buildings have a respectful climate.
- A higher percentage of parents/guardians and members of the community will be involved in the district.
- To reflect the diversity of the Anchorage community, the district will increase the percentage of non-white employees.
