Tarzan Alive: A Definitive Biography of Lord Greystoke by Philip Jose Farmer
Farmer searched British peerage records to determine the identity of the real person on whom E.R. Burroughs based his Tarzan character. He begins with Burroughs titles, analysing all the gaps, and parallel, true events of history to come up with a biographical sketch of `Lord Greystoke' – pointing out similarities between E.R.B.'s and A. C. Doyle’s take on the same events. Call it literary detective work!
