Jack London's "Love of Life" movie trailer for television

running time:00:31 added by:ostazz source: YouTube

The full-length feature film "Love of Life," based on the short story of the same name by Jack London will premiere May 19th at the Island Resort & Casino theater in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The adaptation, written by The Village's Robert Gregg, of Escanaba, Michigan, and directed by Kevin Swigert, Sun Valley, Idaho, was shot on location in the interior of Alaska where the original story took place. The plot focuses on a gold miner from 1899 who leaves his claim late in the year, is abandoned by his partner, and must survive the hardships of Alaska to make it back to his fiancé in Fairbanks. Over the course of the film, the starving man becomes delusional and in the end he struggles not only against the wilderness, but also against himself to survive. The tag line for the motion picture is "Where there's hope, there's life." Peter Ammel, Madison, Wisconsin, plays the lead. Ammel has starred in several regional stage performances of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Macbeth, Oliver, Guys and Dolls, and Into the Woods. "Pete's performance was exceptional," said director Swigert. "He set a high standard for the crew every day, and we felt obligated to also give our best." "I look on this as the role of a lifetime," said Ammel. "Not many actors get the chance to play the lead in their first feature film. It's a big opportunity." "The shoot went beyond our expectations," said Gregg, who is also the film's producer. "Pete's extraordinary acting ability set the example. And we ...

Ground-Based Interceptor (GBI) Ballistic Missile Defense System Test Launch

running time:00:30 added by:jaglavaksoldier source: YouTube

Ground-Based Interceptor is a three-stage, solid fuel booster with an Exo-atmospheric Kill Vehicle (EKV). When launched, the booster missile carries the EKV toward the target's predicted location in space. Once released from the booster, the EKV uses data received in-flight from ground-based radars and its own on-board sensors to close with and destroy the target warhead well outside Earth's atmosphere using only the kinetic force of the direct collision to destroy the target warhead. Interceptor missiles are emplaced at Fort Greely, Alaska and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. A total of 30 interceptors were deployed at the end of 2010.

running time:26:47 added by:nuclearvault source: YouTube

National Archives and Records Administration ARC Identifier 2569617 / Local Identifier 111-TV-348 Big Picture: Historic Fort Monroe Historic Fort Monroe and Continental Army Command activities shown on "THE BIG PICTURE" -- The Army's half-hour filmed TV documentary THE BIG PICTURE covers activities at historic Fort Monroe, Virginia, Headquarters, Continental Army Command. Here is an Army post which almost breathes tradition and in recent years has become an attraction for tourists from all over the country. MSgt. Stuart Queen, the series' host-narrator, takes his audience into the old walled fort, the only one of its kind in this country surrounded by a moat. It was in one of the small rooms of the fort that Confederate President Jefferson Davis was imprisoned, today known as the "Casemate Museum." A standout job in photography has been accomplished in filming the interior of the lovely Chapel of the Centurion which serves as a post chapel. Hanging from the walls of the chancel and nave are the flags and colors of old regiments of the United States Army. The stained glass windows of the Chapel are dedicated to the military men who have served at Fort Monroe. On such a window is inscribed, "He died so the kids next door may live." Additional coverage is given to activities of test boards in six different locales of the US and the arctic test branch at Fort Greely, Alaska. Although old in history, Fort Monroe, home of the Continental Army Command, still plays a prominent ...
