Hooks & Ladders Salmon Game

running time:02:41 added by:yukonsalmon05 source: YouTube

During the Yukon River Drainage Fisheries Association's 20th Annual Meeting, we demonstrated an interactive, educational game, "Hooks & Ladders," to the school in Nulato, AK. In it students play the entire salmon life-cycle, witnessing first-hand obstacles and challenges to living anadromously. This video is a walk-through of the game, what is needed to play it, and ways to tie into school curricula (from ecosystems and biology to math). I think the woman singing this song is Poldine Peters from Nulato, Alaska. I'm not to sure though if that's her or not. She's singing her Good-Bye Song also for safe traveling... I think. I can't really remember, but its an Awesome song! The dancers are from the following villages of Galena, Koyukuk & Nulato, Alaska.
