Residents of Seward, Alaska are concerned about elevated levels of coal dust in the air surrounding their community. They're fighting for strict regulations and state of the art controls to contain the coal dust coming off of the Seward Coal Export facility, and into their community.

Kenai Fjords Tour

Kenai Fjords tour, 17 May 2012. Amazing cloudless, nearly calm day out of Seward, Alaska aboard the Misty on a 9.5-hour tour for seabirds, sea mammals, and scenery. This was a chartered "Captain's Choice" tour, which usually is not offered until late May; this outing led by Captain Dan. All passengers are en route to the Barry/Wood wedding in Homer: Mike Andersen and Cori Myers, Nick Block, Jeff Gerbracht (with Whitney, Grace, and Tractor), Joey Koellner (with Brenda, Amy, Kristyn and Marissa), Steve Mlodinow, and Willy Schmoker. Calving ice is on the Aialik Glacier. Mammals in the video (in order of appearance): Sea Otter, Humpback Whale, Steller's Sea Lion, Orca, Black Bear, Gray Whale, Dall's Porpoise. Birds in the video (in order of appearance): Bald Eagle, Harlequin Duck, Pigeon Guillemot, Pelagic Cormorant, Kittlitz's Murrelet, Common Murre, Thick-billed Murre, Ancient Murrelet, Tufted Puffin, Black-legged Kittiwake.
