They’re the ones who open the cans of food, throw the balls and make sure that there’s always a warm place to sleep…On April 18, celebrate Pet Owner’s Day!
Pet lovers are a special breed.Nine in ten pet owners consider their furry friend a member of the family, and spend about $5 billion a year on presents for them.
About a million dogs in the U.S. have been named the main beneficiary in their owner’s will and over 50% of animal lovers say they’d rather be stranded on a desert island with their pet – than with another person!
Of course, pets return the favor to their owners:studies show that people with companion animals live longer, have fewer heart attacks and strokes, and less stress in their lives. Here are some more fun facts about our passion for pets:
-25% percent of pet owners blow dry their pet after a bath.
-Dog households outnumber cat households in the US, but there are more cats (64.1 million) than dogs (63.8 million).
-When a pet dies, 58% of owners bury it on their property.
-After cats and dogs, fish are the next most popular pet in the U.S.
-The most popular name for a dog is “Max.”

posted:04/15/08Unfortunately our Community both locally & county do not enforce laws for good pet ownership. Not only do 'stray' animals roam at will & required rabies shots are not enforced either. Good pet owner's whose pet's who have been attacked by these perpetrators are left not only 'out to dry' when their pet's are injured both in a financial since & emotionally- or worse killed by these un-cared for & restricted animals. Owner's of the violators are not held responsible for either their pets or communities saftey!
Though a Leash Law is in effect & Rabies are required- there is no validation or enforcement. Even for animals with known attacks by the local law enforcement & animal control. It will take another child or person injured or killed before the City will even notice this growing problem!
