Instructor: George Duquette,
M.D. Have you ever tried to grow native azaleas in your garden without much success? This is your chance to learn how to care for them in your residential landscape. As gardens are designed today, sustainability must be considered in addition to the classical concerns such as symmetry and proportion. Knowledge of plants is an absolute requirement to achieve sustainability. Alabama is blessed with an abundance of native azaleas which are very adaptable to the residential landscape. Recent breeding programs have yielded multitudes of cultivars from which to choose. An overview of our native azaleas and many of their cultivars will be presented allowing the participant to intelligently incorporate these native wonders into today’s residential garden.
