Alabama to get $54M for public housing

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said Alabama would get a sizeable chunk of the $1.8 billion it’s giving to states this year for public housing. Alabama’s housing authorities will get $54.4 million in Capital Fund Program grants this year for large-scale improvements to public housing units, according to a HUD release today. Predictably, Birmingham will receive the largest sum at $7.8 million, followed by the Mobile Housing Board with $5.3 million. Other housing authority
