Grocer acquires Southern Family Markets stores

Newly formed Alabama company Belle Foods LLC plans to purchase 57 grocery stores owned by Birmingham-based Southern Family Markets. According to the Associated Press, Belle Foods LLC will take over stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi that include Bruno’s, Piggly Wiggly and Southern Family Market stores. Terms of the transaction have not yet been disclosed.
