Plans for Limestone steel plant move forward

The Athens City Council and Limestone County Commission approved more than $20 million in tax abatements and incentives this week for a proposed steel plant in Limestone County. According to the Huntsville Times, Pennsylvania-based Carpenter Technology will build the $500 million manufacturing facility, which is expected to be in operation in March 2014. Company officials plan to break ground next month and begin construction in September.
