Postal Service posts $3.3B loss

Strong holiday shipping was not enough to offset a continued decline in First-Class Mail, leading to a $3.3 billion quarterly loss for he United States Postal Service, compared to a loss of $290 million in the same quarter a year earlier. The Postal Service’s shipping business was up 7 percent from a year ago last quarter, its fiscal first quarter. Shipping accounted for 17 percent of its total revenue.
