The Miss Tennky Area AFS Volunteer Leadership Team serves a large area, one of them being Birmingham. Alabama has just been added to the team. AFS-USA works toward a more just and peaceful world by providing international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities through a global volunteer partnership.
AFS-USA has been sending teanagers, young adults and teachers abroad and hosting as well for more than 60 + years with an exemplary record of saafety, security, and service to students parents, and educators.
More than 13,000 students go on exchanges every year with AFS Network. AFS has one of the largest volunteer networks of its kind in the world, many volunteers have studied abroad, hosted exchange students, or sent their own children with AFS.
The team's primary efforts change throughout the year as it focuses on Sending in the fall and Hosting in the Spring and Summer. The group always needs volunteers for small and continuing projects.
