Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum

The golden age of railroading comes alive at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum.  See railroad artifacts and memorabilia in a restored depot.  Locomotives, cars and railroad equipment are displayed in a large railroad yard.  The Boone Memorial Library holds a large collection of historical books, manuals, magazines, and artwork. 

Ride a historic train consisting of passenger cars built between 1910 and 1950 pulled by first-generation diesel electric locomotives.  The Calera & Shelby Railroad runs on a portion of the former L&N's Alabama Mineral Railroad, established in 1891.
