Many employees at Al-Jazeera news channel are resigning over the Qatari-based news network's biased coverage of events taking place in the Middle East. While Al-Jazeera has gained a reputation for its coverage of the Tunisian, Egyptian and Libyan revolutions, the broadcaster has remained almost silent over massive anti-government protests in Bahrain and Manama's brutal crackdown on the popular uprising. Al-Jazeera is also accused of blowing the opposition movement in Syria out of proportion and covering up the truth in the country. It is also accused of fabricating whole stories about Libya and Syria and even staging its own footage at undisclosed locations. Al-Labwani, however, said that they resigned because they did not want to be "accomplices to the massacre of the Syrian people.'' He also accused head of SNC Burhan Ghalioun of running the organization autocratically. SIDC: Social Youth Group Activities led by intern Catherine al Hachem

Medico-social worker Catherine al Hachem hosted a youth group of eleven boys and girls aged 14 to 16 from 08/04/2011 until 15/06/2011, giving them prevention sessions concerning social issues like communication, tobacco, drugs, internet usage, physical hygiene, HIV/AIDS and others. The group partook in some activities and campaigns as well. This video was shown at the wrap-up session on June 16, 2011. Syrian human-rights activists estimate that as many as 900 demonstrators have been killed since the protests began, while more than 10000 people have been detained. WOMEN protesters are being targeted as President Bashar al-Assad launches a fresh crackdown on Syria's anti- government demonstrators. A female human rights activist was detained as thousands of protesters took to the streets in cities across the country for a "Friday of Free Women" protest in solidarity with those killed or imprisoned in the eight-week uprising. Up to 850 demonstrators have died since the protests began, the UN said. Four women were shot dead last week when troops opened fire on protesters in the village of Merqeb near the coastal city of Banias. Dozens of female activists have been arrested. Human rights activist Catherine al-Talli, 32, was detained by police in the Barzeh district of Damascus at 6pm on Friday. She was forced off a minibus when it was stopped at a checkpoint by the secret police, who took her away
