The History of Cullman:

Cullman, Alabama, was founded in 1873 by Col. John Gottfried Cullmann as a colony for German refugees.

Cullman City Government:

The City of Cullman's government consists of a Mayor and a five-member City Council.The City of Cullman operates under a Mayor-Council form of government.

The City's elected officials consist of a Mayor and five City Council members. Each are elected by popular vote to serve concurrent four-year terms. Elections for the Mayor and Council are held every four years in August.

The City Clerk is appointed by the City Council. The City Clerk authenticates and records all official acts of the City. There are also various boards and committees that work with the City Government.

These boards and committees are comprised of City of Cullman citizens who are appointed by the Mayor and the City Council.
