3rd Annual Tri-State BBQ Festival

taken place since last year and we are hard at work ensuring that this year’s
competition will be enjoyable and fun for everyone.
Arrival may begin on Thursday, May 15 at 9:00 a.m. and must be completed by 3:30
p.m. Friday, May 16. Departure time may begin after Awards Ceremony and must end
by 12 noon on Sunday. RV parking with electric and water is included for Friday
night and if you wish to come in on Thursday or stay over on Saturday night, it
is an additional $25 per night (tax included) and must be requested and paid for
in advance by the application deadline.
There will be a mandatory Cook’s Meeting on Friday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m. with a
‘welcome party’ to follow. There’ll be live entertainment, food and refreshments
for all the teams at the ‘welcome party’ and you won’t want to miss it!
This year’s competition is being hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Dothan, and
proceeds raised from the competition will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
One new feature of 2008 permits contestants to vend BBQ directly to the
spectators on Saturday.

Thursday, May 15
9:00 AM- 6:00 PM (optional) arrival. Camping available at $25 per night
Friday, May 16
9:00 AM - 3:30 PM- arrival and set up
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM- inspection of meats
6:00 PM – Mandatory Cooks Meeting
7:00 PM - VIP hospitality party for cook teams, judges & sponsors (only).
Live music by the Jimmy Hope band of Atlanta, Georgia.
Saturday, May 17
10:00 AM - Gates open to spectators
10:00 AM - Vendor Areas open, and food sales begin
10:00 Kids Zone opens! Bring a towel and swim suit for the water activities!

Tickets available at the gate for $10 per person, Kids 12 and under FREE!
Admission includes tasting the "People's Choice" competitors BBQ, admission to all concerts & shows, and parking. Most Kids Zone activities are also free (additional charge for pony rides, mechanical bull and rock wall).
People's Choice Award
Anyone who is registered to compete in either division and wishes to compete in
the People's Choice Award will be given an 8# bone in butt courtesy of Sysco
Gulf Coast to prepare and send to the People's choice tent. Each paying
ticket-holder will be then given a ballot to vote for their favorite meat (one
ballot per person). The winner will receive a special award Saturday afternoon!
Alabama State Championship
25 plus teams needed to be Jack Daniel Qualifier Must compete in four
categories: Chicken, Ribs, Pork, and Brisket to be eligible for Grand Champion,
Reserve Champion, and Third – Fifth Place Overall.
Grand Champion - $2,000.00
Reserve Champion - $1,000.00
Third Place Overall - $300.00
Fourth Place Overall - $200.00
Fifth Place Overall - $100.00
Backyard Division
Must enter all four meats (Chicken, Pork, Ribs, Brisket) to win Backyard’s Best
Category
