Eastern Shore Art Center

Mission: 

The Eastern Shore Art Center houses four galleries with exhibits that change monthly, as well a gallery featuring member artists' work for sale. The Academy offers a wide variety of classes and workshops in five spacious studios. Classes are offered on a quarterly basis to both adults and children.

History

Fifteen Fairhope artists first conceived the idea for a local arts association in 1951. By 1958 they had incorporated and were operating in temporary quarters. In 1961, they purchased the current site, formerly the location of the Pinewood Pottery studio, and construction of the Eastern Shore Art Center began. The facility was enlarged in 1972. By 1977, the present 12,000-square-foot complex was completed.
