About Us

This purpose statement explains the thrust of the ministry of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. An acrostic using the word WORLD further unpacks our purpose statement and explains our vision:

Worship the Lord – we are to worship the Lord individually and corporately and make Him our delight, so that in everything He may have the preeminence.

Obey the Word – we are to obey the Word of God and order our lives and church in accordance with it.

Reach the Lost – we are to reach the lost and unchurched with the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the power of God unto salvation.

Love the Saints – we are to love all men and especially those of the household of faith.

Disciple the Believers – we are to disciple the follower of Jesus Christ in such a way that he may grow to maturity in the faith.
