The Talladega Optimist Club is a part of Optimist International. Optimist International is an association of more than 2,900 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids." Through adult volunteers, the Talladega Optimist Club conducts positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth in our communities. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best that they can be. Each Optimist Club determines the needs of the young people in its community and conducts programs to meet those needs. Every year, Optimists conduct 65,000 service projects and serve well over six million young people.
The Talladega Optimist Club through its volunteers has conducted many service projects with children over the years to include: Scholarships - Communication Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CCDH), oratorical and essay contests; Tri-star sports programs, anti-bullying and Say No to Drugs Campaigns with coloring contests, Childhood Cancer Campaign, Respect for Law, Miss Optimistic Talladega Pageant, Children Literacy Project, Kids Speak Out, Youth Appreciation Program, and Internet Safety.
