Weekly Every Wednesdays

Welcome to Baby Steps, a “Lapsit” Story Time to introduce early literacy and
sign language to infants and their caregivers! The goal of Baby Steps is to
develop and nurture an infant’s love of books and the library as well as introduce
sign language.

Sign language will stimulate nonverbal communication for your
infant, which will enhance the foundation for his or her language skills. There
will be fun stories, fingerplays, music and songs each week. A new sign will be
introduced as well. To help make story time enjoyable for everyone, we ask that
you follow the guidelines below.

Baby Steps is held in the Story Castle on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and is limited
to 25 infants and their caregivers on a first come, first serve basis. Please be
on time so you won’t miss any of the fun.

We ask that you motion your child’s hands during fingerplays and sign
language, so they can feel the gesture of the movements and rhythm.

If your child becomes upset or restless during the program, we ask that you
leave the room until your child is ready to rejoin the group.

Please observe the library’s NO FOOD or DRINK policy.
