This day in June it was already 98 degrees by 12 pm when we arrived at the siding in Chester, AR. And this time we are in the air conditioned coaches watching the Southbound turn pass slowly with heat restrictions. 6 C420's and 51 cars this June 2011 day.

Phase 1 "The Birth of the Baker Nation Water System" Capturing the Spring Water

The Baker family lived on this land going back to the 1800s. For years and years the Indians used the Artesian Spring located on the land long before white man entered the area. In the early 1800s, the land was surveyed and settled and sold to other relatives until the Bakers obtained the land from them in 1916. The family finally moved off the land in 1946 and by 1953, no one was living on the land. Although the land is still owned by the descendants of the family, the Spring has been running over the years uncaptured. In 2011, a test was done to capture the water in a 250 gallon tank, but with no one living on or around the land, further tests and capturing were not completed. In March of 2012, the first phase of capturing the water permanently was started with a 250 gallon tank that will begin the process of daisy-chaining the tanks together with the use of gravity and pumps to establish a network of tanks and pipes that will capture and preserve the water. This video is the first in a series that will take you through the process of how the network will be set up and how it works when it is done. It will also present you the mistakes and errors that were discovered during the process so if you are setting up a similar system, you won't make the mistakes we made if you watch this series.
