Hike to Glory Hole and Alum Cove 07:34

Glory Hole is 5.7 miles east of Fallsville, AR, on Hwy 16 (about an hour east of Fayetteville). A stream empties out through a big hole in the rock, producing a nice waterfall below. Stephen met up with a skunk at Glory Hole, and got a few pictures without getting sprayed. Good thing :))))) Alum Cove is about 2-mile north of Deer, AR. It's a strange rock structure and is a natural rock bridge with a huge arch underneath. We met up with a dog at both locations, and the dogs made it into our video.

Acorn Rage vs. Sugarbeet Crush - What Works Best? 02:27
Internet Explorer users: click pause before closing Acorn Rage vs. Sugarbeet Crush - What Works Best?running time:02:27 added by:jebert34 source: YouTubeThis is a basic experiment to learn what deer might prefer - Acorn Rage (AR) or Sugarbeet Crush (SBC) when placed side-by-side in small amounts. Read below for more information... TIME OF STUDY: Mid-October (pre-rut). METHODS: Dump one small bag of each side-by-side along edge of field. Set trail camera to 3 picture per activation mode to capture evidence of behavior. Checked supplements one week later (related to video) and throughout the remainder of the fall hunting season. RESULTS (after first week of placement): Trail camera activity increased from 300 pictures per week to 1200+ pictures per week (this may be due to increased rut activity as well). Doe and a few smaller bucks investigated SBC at first then migrated to the AR. Larger bucks seemed to prefer AR immediately as provided by the photos. CONCLUSIONS (monitored throughout the fall): During pre-rut, both bucks and doe investigated SBC only to end up preferring AR. Larger bucks stuck almost exclusively to AR. Both products 'attract' deer. AR seems more desirable by deer as a dietary supplement than SBC in this area, which is rich in acorns, although this may not be true of all areas. BEST PRODUCT: AR UPDATE: The supplements were monitored throughout the fall. AR was was not visible after about three weeks (rain was scarce this fall); SBC was visible late into the hunting season in small amounts two+ months later. Before the supplements were placed, local hunting season baiting regulations were checked. Please ...
