Mission :
"A community striving to embody Christ"
Vision :
Rolling Hills Baptist Church is a community of faith committed together for purposes of worship, friendship and support, comprehensive Christian education and authentic presentation of the Gospel as each of us is uniquely gifted by God.
We are a community where personal spiritual health and growth are given priority and deliberate attention. This leads members to value consistent moral and ethical behavior and to convey respect and concern equally to members and non-members alike.
We are a community where individual gifts and talents are recognized, developed and used to complement gifts of others – both within the church and beyond. We use this variety of gifts to carry out the mission of embodying Jesus Christ and meeting the joy and pain of life with compassion and faith, trusting in the Spirit of God for strength and guidance.
The Upward Embodiment of Christ: Worship, central to the life of faith, involves our mind, our heart, and our actions. The focus of our worship is God, God’s work through Jesus Christ and the continuing work of the Holy Spirit. The corporate worship is varied, reflecting the diverse ways that we offer ourselves and our praise to God. It is inviting, challenging, and participatory, calling persons to faith in Jesus Christ.
The Inward Embodiment of Christ: We seek to be a community in which every member is nourished by our interdependence – not simply to be servants to each, but to be friends; not simply to provide for, but to care about each other. We are a source of mutual support, compassion, and spiritual renewal.
Educational activities are purpose driven – focused on meeting people where they are on their Christian journey. Education and development take place not only in the classroom, but in the context of relationships. We provide a nurturing environment where all are encouraged to question and discover who they are in Christ as well as in the world. Classes and groups form when “two or more gather” with a desire to learn and grow, utilizing resources from within the church as well as from the surrounding community.
The Outward Embodiment of Christ: The mission and ministry activities, integral parts of our Christian journey, reach out to a world without borders. The church functions as a mission center; challenging, coordinating and facilitating ministry, local and global. This mission center: 1) identifies skills and capabilities; 2) identifies needs; and 3) coordinates and supports the use of these skills and capabilities to address the needs.
We accept the challenge of sharing the Gospel authentically with non-believers by investing ourselves in relationships with them. We are an accessible community in which non-believers and new believers are welcome and can grow towards Christ.
The Structural Embodiment of Christ: The physical plant is of value only as it facilitates our ministry. It is attractive and well maintained and is used by various community groups in diverse ways.
We keep organizational complexity to a minimum. Those involved in the ministries of the church are empowered to do their tasks with a minimum of bureaucratic structure. Fiscal responsibility is maintained within an atmosphere that fosters creativity.
