I booked it down to Arkadelphia, and proceeded to chase it towards Fordyce to try and catch some of the lightning and hail footage. But, I kept dropping signals and internet feeds, all while traveling down a "steamy" winding road lined heavily with pine trees and scarce open areas. Also, there were lots of cloud to ground lightning going on, I was so close that everytime it struck, it flashed white. At one point I was 29 miles outside of Fordyce about to enter a patch of woods, but the steam coming off the road, the sporadic rain, and the lack of light due to the tall trees hovering over the road, made it unsafe to continue: would've had two threatening situations - 1. an unseen flood in the woods, 2. lightining striking a tree and setting the forest on fire, and me caught in it all with no gps or cell phone signal. So I turned back and went to Wendy's in Caddo Valley. But I do know where to take a nice sports car on a nice sunny afternoon Vroooom! Central Arkansas Storm Chasers -= www.facebook.com
