Goldsworthy is one of the preeminent artists working today. Since the mid-1970s, Goldsworthy has used materials found in the environment to make works that draw out the character of a specific place. He makes delicate, ephemeral works as well as large scale installations. Stock Exchange Snowball is an artifact from a singular combination of time, place and the art-making process. The Arts Center’s drawing straddles the realms between natural sculptures that disappear quickly and permanent structures; it is also a masterful drawing that stands on its own aesthetic merits.
