"Seven Pies" by Still On The Hill

This is one of many music videos that will be featured in an upcoming documentary about The Ozarks and some of its people. Kelly Mulhollan and Donna Stjerna of Still on the Hill have a knack for finding true "Ozarkian" people. Many have inspired the duet to turn stories into song, so it wasn't long before a collection of songs was formed. The documentary includes the making of Still on the Hill's "Ozark: A Celebration in Song" album, interviews with Ozark legends, and 4 songs from the album featured as music videos. This song "Seven Pies" is based on a story told by Mr. Jessie Jones of Oark, Arkansas. Unfortunately he passed away before we started the documentary, but the song is so catchy and wonderful that it had to be in this documentary. Also, this song was #1 on Folk DJ Radio list serves.

Oark Christmas Parade

This is the 2008 Christmas parade in Oark, Arkansas. Some of the most wonderful people in the world reside in the mountains that surround the Mulberry River. And this is one way we celebrate Christmas! Come visit the Oark General Store and meet the folk of Ozark Mountains!

This was about 35 minutes before the show started, "Buck" and "Roy" had just got the sound set up, and people were starting to arrive. I didn't compensate for the indoor lighting, and after editing to fit youtube standards, the video seems to have unsynched itself with the audio? For those who don't know where Oark, AR is, let me tell ya, it's a heck of a drive up some curvy roads, by ANY route you take! The scenery is worth the drive, the food at the little store is kinda famous in these parts...and if you ever have a hankerin' for some REAL southern cooking, Brother, this is the place to go! The store has been in operation since 1890, and it's just got a nice feel about it. This show only had 1/3 of us regulars, and the audience was about 1/20 what usually fits in our small theater in Ozark...our pay? An AWESOME chicken and catfish dinner, the best beans you'll find ANYWHERE, cornbread, fried okra, coleslaw, corn on the cob, salad, banana pudding...YUM YUM! LoL! The stuff they were cooking for folks during the show made this ol' boy's mouth water. There were supposed to be interviews with some of the folks in the show... We've got a kid who does "Little Larry" skits (the younger version of a certain actor/comedian named Larry...); Woody and Buddy...well...you'd just have to see them to believe it; Johnny, aka "Buck," and Doc, aka "Roy" are two of the koolest people you'll ever meet; our director, Steve Outlaw (yeah..his real name) is responsible for all this madness ...
