Big Creek Area 09:00

This area features a beautiful creek with many twist and turns including a few beautiful waterfalls along the creek itself. The main attraction is Big Creek Cave Falls which you can see spilling out of the cave along the bluffline. There are a few other waterfall caves that I need to photograph this spring in this area, it really is full of beautiful things. I learned a lot making this video as well as editing. First off, wearing the GoPro camera on your head is definitely not the best way to shoot a hike. It bobs and weaves and causes a bit of disorientation for the viewer. I tried to choose clips which minimized this. I shot over 2 hours of video and only saved 20 minutes or so. I condensed that down to this version at 9 minutes. Other things I learned are that I need a few stationary shots to include of the waterfalls. I did a few "in place" shots where I held the camera, but the motion from me holding the camera shows and it really takes away from the "feel" of the video. I've ordered a chest mount for the GoPro as well as a mini-tripod to help setup more interesting shots for the next outing. The next thing I will purchase will actually be a realitvely large purchase a Zoom H4n for recording audio. It's one of the best audio recorders money can buy currently and I feel it will add a whole other dimension to the quality of these videos ...

Falling Water Part 2 - Ozark Mountains 07:05
Internet Explorer users: click pause before closing Falling Water Part 2 - Ozark Mountainsrunning time:07:05 added by:CruseExpedition source: YouTubeWe capture these videos of our adventures to share the natural beauty of Arkansas. We are a group of friends and family that have a common interest in exploring new places and I am always keeping my ear open for a new area to visit. In organizing these trips I have provided the equipment needed to make it in and out of the woods safely. However, if anything were to ever go wrong then we have contingencies set in place. Something to consider, however far we have to go to shoot our videos the distance is doubled, because of camera set up and back tracking. Usually we will scout ahead to find a good spot to set up a camera, set it up, and walk back to the group to catch the shot. In some cases we will do this with 2 cameras making the job even more tiresome. The apparel and equipment we use in these videos come from: Columbia Sportswear, 511 Tactical, Blackhawk Tactical Nylon, Oakley, Nike, Converse, Vazque, Ozark trails, TruSpec, Outdoor Products, Coleman, Ka-Bar, GG&G Tactical, Gerber, Sony Handycams, Targus tripods, Thermacell, Repel, Katadyn filters, ATN night vision, Magellan GPS, Cobra radios. If anyone would like to visit the places in these videos then let me know Ill give you directions and/or coordinates. |
