Ajo, Arizona smelting stack demolition controlled
running time:01:07 added by:itimmers source: YouTubeThis is the demolition of a 100 year old smelting stack at a mine site in Ajo, Arizona. It was a long time landmark for this small Mexico boarder town. The demo team worked on this for over a week or so prepping the structure for this day to fall. It just took some basic planning, careful drilling, and of course some explosives to make the 100 ft stack drop to the ground. What you can't see is that there's a major highway less than 200 ft from where the top must fall... The roadway was shut down for an hour or so to make sure there was no debris thrown onto the pavement or on any vehicles. The local media was also there to catch this memory.
