I had the glider in strong lift and once I realized the hawk was serious I did loops and dives to lose altitude. The one hard hit by the hawk took the canopy off and when I saw a black object falling from the glider I feared for the camera. But I soon realized it was falling too slowly to be the camera -- luckily it landed not to far away. In the mean time I was trying to fly the glider out of the lift and bring it in for a landing -- all the while the hawk was dive-bombing the glider. It was a tight landing area with turbulence but no harm was done ...

We laid it flat on top of one of the explosive targets you can buy from the sporting goods stores. One well placed round from an M1 Garand is what sent this turkey flying.
