Gilbert,
Ariz. – Aug. 26, 2011 – Art
Intersection announces the opening of its new Photography Center in the Gilbert
Heritage District. This one of a kind facility in Arizona, and one of only a few
in the country, provides access to digital and traditional photographic
facilities. The newly completed workspace completes the vision for Art
Intersection by becoming an educational hub for photographers and artists of
all levels to learn, create and exhibit.
The new facility encompasses darkrooms for black and white
printing, film developing, alternative process printing, a digital lab with
workstations, large format printers and film scanners, and a classroom with
areas for critiques and artist meetings.
A public open house on Saturday, Sep. 17, from 10am-2pm and
7pm-10pm includes tours and information about this brand new, unique facility. Visitors
can explore the space by joining the staff on guided tours to learn about the
facilities and membership benefits, and to enroll in upcoming workshops and
classes.
Mary Virginia Swanson, author and educator said, “The addition
of The Photography Center to Art Intersection is a natural extension of
its public programming. The Phoenix metropolitan area now has a first-class
facility with exceptional educational offerings that rivals university
programs.”
In addition to scheduled workshops and classes, the dark rooms and
digital lab space may be reserved on an hourly basis, and open lab hours are
available for students enrolled in classes allowing all levels to work
independently.
