Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers, Dignity Health members (formerly Catholic Healthcare West) are proud to announce its Community Grants Program is providing $249,642 in funding to 11 community-based non-profit organizations that support underserved populations in the Southeast Valley.
For more than two decades Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers have been partnering with other non-profit organizations who are working to improve the health and quality of life in the communities it serves and whose efforts embody Dignity Health’s core values.
“We are fortunate to live in a community where there is such a variety of organizations dedicated to helping our friends and neighbors,” said Martin Breeden, vice president of Mission Integration for Dignity Health in Arizona. “It is an honor to continue the tradition of partnering with organizations who share our same mission of ministering the poor and underserved.”
Each organization had to meet certain criteria and eligibility requirements prior to submitting a letter of intent and full proposal. The Dignity Health Investment Committee reviewed the applications and selected the grant recipients. The grants program is entirely funded by contributions from Dignity Health’s member hospitals. Grant awards ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 are provided to those whose programs are aligned with the mission of Dignity Health. Additionally, the programs must address the Dignity Health’s Core Community Benefit Principles that include, disenfranchised populations with unmet health needs; primary prevention; continuum of care; capacity building and collaborative governance. Organizations receiving awards this year are: About Care, Asian Pacific Community in Action, Chandler Education Foundation, Chandler/Gilbert Family YMCA, Child Crisis Center, Hope Community Center, Improving Chandler Area Neighborhoods, Maricopa County Asthma, Mercy Housing Arizona, Mission of Mercy, and Rebuilding Valley of the Sun.
“Through valued partnerships, we can open the door of access to improve health for those who are most vulnerable in our community,” said Kathleen Dowler, director of Community Integration for Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers.
