The Diagnostic Imaging Department at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, a member of Catholic Healthcare West, has received accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the American College of Radiology (ACR) for both Ultrasound, including Vascular, and Computed Tomography, including Cardiac.
Ed Jones, director of Diagnostic Imaging, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. Mercy Gilbert’s Imaging Department is one of more than 20,000 facilities that are ACR-accredited.
The ACR Accreditation Program, which began in 1987, is a peer-reviewed, educationally focused evaluation process to ensure that patients are receiving the highest level of image quality and safety.
“It is an honor to have Mercy Gilbert’s Diagnostic Imaging Department obtain an accreditation that meets the nationally accepted standard of care,” said Tim Bricker, president and CEO of Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. “This recognition would not be possible without the dedicated work of our Imaging team.”
The ACR accreditation is a two-step process that spans over a three-year period. First, information regarding Mercy Gilbert’s practice site and modality-specific information is provided to the ACR. Second, clinical images and modality-specific quality control and quality assurance programs information is submitted.
“We are so proud to be recognized by a medical society that is renowned throughout the U.S.,” said Ed Jones, director of Diagnostic Imaging at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. “Although our team is continuously producing outstanding efforts, being accredited by ACR is rewarding as it is considered the gold standard of accreditation and care.”
