Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, a member of Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), announced it will rename its family birth center to the Lund Family Birth Center during a special ceremony on November 4, 2011. The medical center and the CHW Foundation – East Valley are recognizing the Lund family for their continued generosity and dedication.
The naming of the family birth center honors the Lund family for their continued support to Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and for their generous donation of $2.5 million for the Tower B expansion, which opened in January 2008.
“The family birth center is one of the most joyous places in the Gilbert community, where life, family and memories are celebrated,” said Tim Bricker, president and CEO of Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. “Mercy Gilbert Medical Center dedicates this unit to the Lund family, as a token of our appreciation for their commitment to the medical center and community.”
With the generous support of the Lund family, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is able to continue to offer families eight private labor, delivery and recovery suites, 14 private couplet care rooms, two cesarean section suites with an adjacent recovery room and nursery, and four special-care beds in the nursery for infants needing extra care and support.
“Our family foundations are very excited to be a part of the family birth center where parents, along with their families and friends will share in the most wonderful celebration of all, the birth of their baby,” said Sherry Lund. “With the philosophy of compassionate care that Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is known for, we are honored to be a part of something so special.”
Since opening in June 2006 through October 31, 2011, 12,648 babies including 77 sets of twins have been born at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
