Coyotes Claim Center Gilbert Brule Off Re-Entry Waivers

GLENDALE, AZ
---Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced on January 10, 2012 the Coyotes have claimed center Gilbert Brule off re-entry waivers from the Edmonton Oilers.

The 5-foot-11, 174 pound Brule has recorded 8-10-18 in 27 games this season with the Oklahoma City Barons, the Oilers American Hockey League. In 2010-11, the Edmonton, Alberta native appeared in 41 games with the Oilers, registering 7-2-9 and 41 penalty minutes (PIM).

In 263 career NHL games with the Oilers and Columbus Blue Jackets, the 25-year-old Brule has recorded 38-43-81. He set career highs in goals (17), assists (20), points (37), power play goals (2) and game-winning goals (3) with Edmonton during the 2009-10 season.

Brule was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round (sixth overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft.

The Coyotes also announced that center Boyd Gordon has been activated off Injured Reserve. Gordon missed seven games with a lower-body injury.
