Coyotes Recall Chris Summers From Portland

GLENDALE, AZ---Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced on January 30, 2012 that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Chris Summers from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers has played in nine games with the Coyotes this season, collecting three assists. This is his fifth recall of the season. He also has appeared in 28 games with the Pirates posting 0-2-2 and 37 penalty minutes.

In 2010-11, the 23-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Mich., recorded 1-9-10 and 54 penalty minutes in 75 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). He also appeared in two games with the Coyotes last season, collecting four penalty minutes.

Summers was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.
