Coyotes Recall Maxim Goncharov From Portland

GLENDALE, AZ - On January 20th, Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Maxim Goncharov from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-3, 216 pound Goncharov has appeared in 35 games with the Pirates this season, recording 1-3-4 and 35 penalty minutes (PIM). This is his second recall of the season.

In 2010-11, the 22-year-old native of Moscow, Russia played 61 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), registering 6-9-15 and 65 penalty minutes.

Goncharov was drafted by the Coyotes in the fifth round (123rd overall) in the 2007 Entry Draft.
