Glendale’s Bell Road Thriving With Economic Development

from:City Of Glendale category:Government and Politics posted:February 4th, 2012
Glendale, AZ – The Bell Road corridor in north Glendale has attracted numerous new business investments totaling more than 231,000 square feet of leased or purchased commercial space in Glendale. The city’s Economic Development Department has played a significant role in assisting the companies that have chosen to locate in Glendale.

Eleven businesses, including a new grocery store, furniture showrooms and restaurants, are in the midst of putting out the welcome mat for customers. Some of the businesses, such as Furniture King at 7320 W. Bell Road, have been open for a short time, with others expected to open this spring, such as WinCo Foods at 59th Avenue and Bell Road. WinCo will open after renovating a 130,000-square-foot building.

“Glendale’s Bell Road continues to be one of the Valley’s premier commercial corridors, attracting businesses because of competitive commercial lease rates, strong demographics and the city’s business-friendly environment,” said Brian Friedman, Glendale’s Economic Development Director.  “And of course, these new businesses will also bring new revenue to the city.”            Friedman went on to comment that a great opportunity awaits the new investors of the 34,000 square foot former Ultimate Electronics building at 17510 N. 75th Ave.  The building was recently purchased and is available for lease.

Ron Turley Associates, Inc. (RTA), a software development company specializing in custom fleet maintenance programs, purchased a 7,800 square foot building at 17437 N. 71st Ave.  RTA will have 26 employees.

“Our company has been in business for 33 years and we are relocating our headquarters to Glendale and the Bell Road Corridor because of the location and current market for buildings in the area.  It has long been a dream of RTA to won their own building - a dream that now come true.” said Larry Turley, president of Ron Turley Associates. “The timing was right and we see tremendous opportunity with this investment and it affords us a chance to upgrade our environment, location and business climate.”
