GLENDALE, AZ---Downtown Glendale will burst into a botanical art bloom as the West Valley Arts Council holds its first Botanical Drawing & Illustration Exhibit at the Gaslight Inn, located at 5747 W. Glendale Ave . The exhibit will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week from noon to 8 p.m.
Patrons will see how local artists have used their talents to portray plants of all kinds including shrubs, trees, grasses and orchids, as well as flowers, leaves, fruit, seeds and root systems. Artists have used materials such as watercolor, pastel, oil, colored pencil, pencil work and more. The styles vary from scientific illustration to decorative work.
Pop up art galleries are increasing in popularity as these temporary exhibits provide direct community involvement while serving as arts and culture destination points.
“This pop-up gallery concept is perfect for the Gaslight Inn because, as a new business owner in Glendale, it’s an opportunity to partner with the city and the local artists while also attracting customers to our new business,” said Pete Gliniak, owner of Gaslight Inn
The Botanical Drawing & Illustration Exhibit is in partnership with the Arizona Science and Technology SciTech Festival and the City of Glendale/Glendale Arts Commission.
“The display provides art lovers a chance to see and explore a unique art form at a historic business in downtown Glendale, combining both culture and art in one place,” said Justine Cornelius, Artwerks director. “This pop-up gallery is another great addition to the Glendale Centerline District, which has been attracting thousands of visitors to First Saturdays and the Mural and Fire Hydrant Art programs.”
