Today is the start of meteorolgical summer except along the California beaches forget it .Most if not all spots won't get out of the 60s today and even a few 50s up north. However, today the desert Southwest will appropriately have the hottest day so far this year to kick off the meteorological summer such as the expected 107 degrees today in Las Vegas, NV. 113 in Phoenix,Az. ,114 at Lake Havasu City , Az. and 121 in Death Valley.,Ca.at Furnace Creek where there is an official weather station to 124 in Death Valley, CA. at Badwater where there is no permanent station but is known to be hotter than Furnace Creek.
