MEET THE RABBI

November 2, 2009 – Congregation Beth Am Northwest is pleased to announce that

Rabbi Miri M. Fleming will be joining us as our spiritual leader and will be conducting and leading our Friday Shabbat services.

The first service that she will officiate will take place on November 13. Following this service Rabbi Miri will be out of town for a long overdue vacation. She will be back to Congregation Beth Am Northwest to conduct Friday evening Shabbat services on January 8 and January 22.

Rabbi Miri has been active in the Tucson community since 1985, when she was a Judiac Studies Teacher at the Tucson Hebrew Academy. Before being ordained in January of this year, Rabbi Miri has served as an interim part-time spiritual leader with Congregation Ner Tamid; officiated at High Holiday services at the Hillel Center at the University of Arizona; was Torah study founder and leader at Beth Shalom Temple Center in Green Valley.

Friday night Shabbat services are held by Congregation Beth Am Northwest every Friday evening at 7:30 pm. The location is in the sanctuary at the Church of the Apostles at 12111 N. La Cholla Blvd. This is the first left turn on La Cholla, going north from Tangerine.

In the interim, Beth Am Northwest will host Friday Nite Live presented by Congregation Or Chadash and led by Janice Cohen on November 20, and December 25. These special Shabbat services are held at the same location but one hour earlier, at 6:30 pm.

We invite the entire Jewish population here in the Northwest to come and meet Rabbi Miri, and join with her and our Congregation in greeting the Shabbat.
