John Dawson is a gifted figurative artist who specializes in works of fine art, which are personal, perceptive, and psychological in nature. He has exhibited fromcoast to coast, having had one-man exhibitions in both New York and SanFrancisco, as well as numerous exhibitions in between.

Graduating fromNorthern Illinois University with a BFA in 1969 and Arizona State Universitywith a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1974, he has worked as a professionalartist for more than thirty years.

He has had more than sixty One ManExhibitions including the Segal Gallery, New York City; Robinson Gallery,Houston, Texas, Elaine Horwitch Galleries, Sante Fe and Scottsdale;GekasNichosas Gallery and Beth O'Donnell Gallery, Tucson,Arizona; the Benjamin MangelGallery, Philadelphia, PA; James Ratliff Gallery, Sedona and Tucson; C. G. ReinGallery, Santa Fe and Scottsdale, as well as many others.

John has shownin approximately 50 National and Regional Competition Exhibitions, including theArt Institute of Chicago, El Paso Museum of Art, Phoenix Art Museum, TucsonMuseum of Art, and Oklahoma Art Museum. He has also had many one-man museumexhibitions including Oklahoma Center for the Arts, Arkansas Art Center, and theSpringfield Art Museum, Springfield, MO. His work is represented in numerouspublic and private collections such as the Phoenix Art Museum; El Paso Museum ofArt; Oklahoma Art Center; Ulrich Museum of Art, Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery;University of Nebraska; Scottsdale Center for the Arts; Tucson Museum of Art andthe Department of Agriculture, Washington, D.C.

John's work has beenextensively reviewed in various publications, including Art News, Artweek,Southwest Art, and Art Voices South, as well as many local newspapers andmagazines. He was selected for the book "World Artists 1980-1990", edited byClaude Marks, published by H. W. Wilson. He has a recently published book"Dawson - Thirty Years"

He is currently represented in galleries inArizona, California, and Oklahoma.
