In three out of ten reported fires in homes equipped with smoke alarms, the devices did not work. Remember, smoke alarms need to be replaced every 10 years and fresh batteries should be installed once a year. Test those batteries once a month. ($20 - $30)

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, tasteless and toxic gas that can be produced by any fuel burning appliance, vehicle, tool or other device.
