History
Roosevelt School District is located in an area that was once known for its lush citrus groves and fragrant flower gardens. Now the area boasts attractive new housing developments that are surrounded by exceptional golf facilities. Here, nestled in the foothills of South Mountain Park in South Mountain Village, you’ll find a “small town” atmosphere that’s just minutes from downtown Phoenix, Interstate 10 and 17 and Sky Harbor International Airport.Established in 1912, the same year Arizona achieved its statehood, the Roosevelt School District has long been known for excellence in its K-8 instructional programs, bilingual curriculum, parental participation and community partnerships. The district has also mirrored the state’s growth and richness of cultural diversity. The District boundaries are the Salt River on the north, South Mountain to the south, 40th Street on the east and 35th Avenue on the west. What began as a 15-pupil district more than 8 decades ago now has more than 11,000 students and over 1,300 employees in 20 schools. Roosevelt School District is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment that fosters the continuous achievement of our students. We look forward to having you become part of our South Mountain family.
