Keeping Your Family And Property Safe This Holiday Season

from:Town Of Queen Creek category:Government and Politics posted:November 23rd, 2011

This holiday season, volunteer members of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Queen Creek Crime Prevention Posse will patrol the Town's shopping centers to keep residents safe. The highly trained Posse Members will supplement regular Deputy Sheriff Patrols and enhance the level of support to the community.

In addition to the Posse services, residents are encouraged follow these additional safety tips for additional protection:

 - Consider taking a family member or friend shopping with you - there is strength in numbers!
 - Park in well-lit areas. Remember to take your keys, check that windows are shut, conceal valuables and lock doors.
 - If you choose to leave items in your car when shopping, conceal valuables before reaching your destination, or conceal them in an inconspicuous manner if already parked. Don't fill a trunk with valuables and walk away to do more shopping as someone could be watching. Plan your shopping and load your car when you are ready to travel away.
 - Remember that SUV and pick-up trucks are often prime targets as they are often easier to see into and do not have trunks.
 - When returning to your vehicle, carry your keys in hand, ready to unlock the door and enter as quickly as possible. Scan the area as you approach your vehicle and quickly look inside before entering. Lock your doors once inside.
 - After the holidays have passed, pay close attention to bills and report unauthorized charges. Photograph and record the serial numbers of new purchases for personal records.

To report a crime in progress, please call 911. To report a crime that has already happened without suspect or injury, please call the Maricopa County's Sheriff Office 602-876-1011.
