Exhibition - Economy of Means: Toward Humility in Contemporary Sculpture

from:Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art category:Arts and Entertainment posted:January 4th, 2012
In these lean times, we are often asked to do a lot with a little. The artists in economy of means distil the material stuff of our lives and create poetic sculptural work that allows for subtlety to have maximal impact. The artists’ tendency to look to their materials as a means of dictating form and function demonstrates an honesty and humility in relationship to artistic media and focuses attention on the significance of the individual artistic gesture. The exhibition will reveal the subtle ways in which our physical world enables us to remain connected and interdependent.
