The TSO celebrates the 100th anniversary of Arizona statehood with a program of music, dance, spoken word and a performance by the world’s premier performer of the Native American flute, R. Carlos Nakai. Take a musical tour of our most renowned Arizona feature – Grofé’s exceptionally popular Grand Canyon Suite – and be inspired by a President’s Day observance with a narration of Copland’s Lincoln’s Portrait. The celebration begins with Copland’s stirring Fanfare for the Common Man and concludes with the Latin flavor of Márquez’s beguiling Danzón No. 2. All performed by Arizona’s first and longest continuously performing professional arts organization.
