Born in California but raised in both Glendale and Tucson Arizona, she sang and performed for most of her entire life until her untimely death in August of 2011. She performed throughout the southwest with various bands, one of which was The Occasionals which she is shown with in the photo in this video. When she began singing she would compete against other singers and bands in the Tuscon area. One of her early rivals was Linda Ronstadt who Celia Marie would always win the competition against when performing at the same show. Where Linda's following was a more white and mainstream crowd, Celia Marie attracted Latinos and African-Americans. Both the flip side, 'Walk With Me' and this, the A-side 'Please Don't Go', were recorded in Tuscon and pressed in a small quantity on a tiny local label. Celia Marie eventually went to Hollywood and cut some demos as well as re-recorded 'Walk With Me' and 'Please Don't Go'. The session was held at Hollywood's Gold Star Studio with Jack Nitzsche on hand as arranger and background vocals by The Blossoms on 'Walk With Me'.

The portion of this state highway between Interstate 805 and the future California 125 interchange is currently an expressway and is slated for upgrade to freeway standards; once this upgrade is complete, the entire route is slated to become Interstate 905. There are no US routes left in San Diego, the seventh largest city in the United States. San Diego is the largest city in the United States that is not served by a single US highway (other large cities not served by US highways include Seattle, Washington, and Tucson, Arizona). In 1964, the state of California decommissioned many US highways, and signs were removed as their freeway replacements were constructed. US 80 was replaced by Interstate 8 by 1972, US 101 has been replaced by Interstate 5 in 1964, and US 395 was replaced by Interstate 15 by 1972. US 395 was the last US highway to be eliminated from San Diego, when Interstate 15 and California 163 replaced its signage by 1972. Historic route signage for all three routes (US 80, US 101, and US 395) has been placed, with US 101 signs appearing in the late 1990s, and US 80 and US 395 signs appearing around 2007 and 2008. The state of California officially designated each of these former US highways as historic corridors. California 52 is the Soledad Freeway, starting at Interstate 5 at the foot of Mount ...
