Not much to say, some mistakes, one string missing from the bass.. the usual :) I think Phoenix plays this with a pick but, I prefer fingerstyle and I think it sounds good on this one. I just regret having slapped the last chorus, it sounds bad and I got out of rhythm. I decided to try some new stuff in the editing department lol, tell me what you think. Since their formation in 1996, the band has sold more than fifty-million albums and won two Grammy Awards. They achieved mainstream success with their debut album, Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005. Their following studio album, Meteora, continued the band's success, topping the Billboard 200's album charts in 2003, and was followed by extensive touring and charity work around the world. Recognized for their adaptation of the nu metal and rap rock genre into a radio-friendly yet densely-layered style in Hybrid Theory and Meteora, the band moved away from this and explored a variety of other genres in their latest studio album, Minutes to Midnight. The album topped the Billboard charts and had the third best debut week of any album that year. They are also known for their several collaborations, most notably with rapper Jay-Z in their mash-up album Collision Course, and many other artists on Reanimation. The album's title, a reference to the Doomsday Clock, foreshadowed the band's new lyrical themes. Minutes to Midnight sold over 600,000 copies in its first week, making it one of the most successful debut week albums in recent years. The album also took the top spot on the Billboard Charts. "Given Up" is one of the heavier songs on the album. It notably features a seventeen second-long scream by Chester Bennington after the second verse, as well as a steady guitar riff for the chorus verses of the song. The scream is split into two 8 second long screams when performed live allowing Chester to catch his breath, although he has completed the full scream in various live performances. It dawns a distinctive jingle sound during the verses and intro, generated by the jingling of guitarist Brad Delson's keys and a steady clapping beat by Mike Shinoda. The song was available as a single on March 3, 2008. The video consists of live clips from the shows (stated above) and has been edited together in a sharp, rugged manner which contains short cut scenes with many special effects mainly altering the colouring. Transitions between cut scenes are in a style of warn analog tape distortion giving the video an even more rugged, tough appearance. Bennington performs his seventeen-second scream perched on the guard rail, inches from the audience. Throughout the video several flash scenes appear such as a cowboy, hippopotamus and quotes from "Magical Thinking: True Stories" (chapter "Commercial Break") a book by the American author Augusten Burroughs. Frames from the Linkin Park videos "One Step Closer", "Papercut", "What I've Done", "Faint", "Numb", and "Breaking the Habit" can also be seen through out the video.
